Monika Mendat was born near Danzig, and fled Poland with her parents at the end of the 1970s. Her mother is from southern Poland, Oświęcim („Auschwitz“). Taking an indirect route via Stockholm and Cologne the family finally came to Augsburg. Today, she lives and works in Friedberg near Augsburg.

Monika Mendat went to school in Augsburg, graduated with a university entrance qualification and was granted a scholarship for highly gifted students.

National and international exhibitions and galleries in: Berlin, Warsaw, Krakow, Munich and Augsburg.

For her, home is a superordinate sphere, and not a matter of mere geography. An important duty that each and every one of us must deal with.
